I help companies optimize manufacturing operations and help ambitious professionals land dream internships, craft standout resumes, and develop as leaders — drawing on a career that spans Tesla, the U.S. Navy, and the production floor.
I'm John Neri — a bilingual manufacturing engineer, U.S. Naval Officer, and career strategist who helps companies scale their production and helps people scale their potential.
My path started on the shop floor — earning an Associates in Welding Technology from Dodge City Community College, then welding and fabricating farm equipment in Kansas. That hands-on foundation carried me through an ABET-accredited Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree at Pittsburg State University, internships designing 3D-printed sand molds at Emerson and commissioning die casting tooling at Tesla, and eventually a senior engineering role leading Tesla's high-volume electrolyte filling ramp in Fremont.
Along the way I developed deep expertise in industrial automation and welding engineering — programming PLC systems in Studio 5000, configuring CompactLogix controllers and PowerFlex drives, designing complex conveyor sorting systems, and consulting on weld process development across SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW. I hold a Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional credential, an A.A.S. in Welding Technology from an AWS S.E.N.S.E.-certified program, and am fluent in both English and Spanish.
But the part of my career I'm most proud of isn't on a spec sheet. I've spent years mentoring students and young professionals — helping them land competitive internships at companies like Tesla, Boeing, and beyond by rethinking how they present their experience, tell their story, and position themselves in the market. I know what hiring managers look for because I've been one.
Today I serve as a commissioned U.S. Naval Officer, where I've sharpened the leadership, strategic thinking, and mission-critical decision-making that I bring to every engagement — whether that's commissioning a production line or coaching someone through the most important interview of their career.
Three practice areas, one philosophy: close the gap between where you are and where you should be.
High-volume ramp strategy, process development, cycle time reduction, and throughput optimization. Proven at scale with Tesla's battery manufacturing operations — from early prototyping through full production qualification.
PLC programming in Studio 5000, CompactLogix and PowerFlex drive configuration, conveyor and sorting system design, and HMI development. Full-stack controls engineering for manufacturing environments of any scale.
End-to-end commissioning of mass production equipment — from FAT/SAT through production qualification. Experience with battery systems, die casting machines, and general assembly lines at Tesla and beyond.
Electrolyte filling, metalcasting, CNC machining, and welding process expertise. SOLIDWORKS Professional-level mechanical design for fixtures, jigs, and tooling. Root cause analysis, DOE, and capability studies to drive quality improvements.
Formally trained in SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), and FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) through an AWS S.E.N.S.E.-certified program, with additional coursework in welding theory, blueprint reading, and cutting processes. OSHA 10 certified. I consult on weld process selection, procedure development (WPS/PQR), joint design optimization, and welder qualification programs. From agricultural equipment fabrication to production welding — I help shops improve weld quality, reduce rework, train welders, and implement inspection protocols that meet code requirements.
A complete playbook for landing competitive internships at top-tier companies. I'll help you identify the right targets, build a pipeline, craft tailored applications, and prepare for every stage of the process — from cold outreach to final-round interviews. I've been on both sides of the table and know exactly what gets someone hired.
Your resume is your first impression — and most people waste it. I'll rebuild yours from the ground up: sharpening bullet points with quantifiable impact, restructuring for ATS optimization, and crafting a narrative that makes hiring managers stop scrolling. LinkedIn profile overhauls included to ensure your digital presence matches your ambition.
Mock interviews, STAR method coaching, and technical question preparation tailored to your target role and industry. I'll help you build confidence, eliminate filler, and deliver your experience in a way that resonates — whether it's a behavioral round at a Fortune 500 or a technical deep-dive at a startup.
Pivoting industries or roles? I've done it — from the manufacturing floor to Tesla's engineering lab to the Navy's quarterdeck. I help professionals reframe transferable skills, identify the right landing spots, and build a transition roadmap that gets them where they want to be faster than they thought possible.
For new managers, team leads, and high-potential individual contributors stepping into leadership for the first time. I'll work with you on communication, delegation, conflict resolution, and building the kind of trust that makes teams perform. Grounded in real experience leading teams on production floors and in the military.
Optimize how your team operates — from daily standups to cross-functional collaboration. I bring military precision and manufacturing efficiency to team dynamics: clear accountability structures, communication cadences, and decision-making frameworks that eliminate ambiguity and drive results.
How you show up matters as much as what you know. I coach professionals on executive presence — commanding a room, delivering concise briefings, leading difficult conversations, and projecting the confidence that earns trust from stakeholders at every level.
High-stakes environments demand clear thinking and decisive action. I coach professionals on structured decision-making frameworks, prioritization under time constraints, and managing ambiguity — skills forged in military operations and high-volume manufacturing where the cost of hesitation is measured in real dollars and real consequences.
